Pretty & Gritty
in The Iron City
The circus of our heroes has stripes of black and gold - stitched with grit, grace, and just enough chaos to call it Pittsburgh. Cirque Jag Productions is a multidisciplinary project that draws from circus, film, theatre, music, and storytelling to create bold digital media and content strategy.

Multidisciplinary Art

Cirque Jag Productions is a space-activating, multidisciplinary art project rooted in the heart of Pittsburgh. It’s a melting pot (or blast furnace, if you prefer) for...

Creative Media (digital and handcrafted)
Juggling becomes a percussion technique. Mythical creatures form imaginary civic unions. And our neighbors, from all walks of life, prove that we are each worthy of our most soulful aspirations.
It’s a Pittsburgh Thing:
Serious. Sparkling. Slightly Unhinged.
The Goal
Spark joy, raise eyebrows, and, in general,
help people witness the power of coordinated confusion.
No matter the media or message, it’s all delivered with a backbone, a purpose, and just the right amount of absurdity. Serious artists making serious art know that we need humor to survive. It’s like adding just the right amount of carbon to iron to make steel. Too much and it’s brittle. Too little and it folds. But just enough? That’s how you build a city of bridges.

From thought-provoking films for adults to imaginative circus-STEM programs for kids, there’s something for every age.

While Cirque Jag Productions is run independently, collaboration is core to the process. Partnerships with nonprofits, artists, educators, and cultural institutions are always welcome.

Why Comedy Matters
Circus is fun. So are Cirque Jags.
For Cirque Jags, comedy is a Trojan horse. It sneaks truth in while you’re laughing. The work is funny in the way Pittsburgh is funny: a special mix of dry, deadpan, self-deprecating, and a little weird. It takes joy seriously, and seriousness joyfully.

Whether it’s a juggle-drumming routine to Ravel’s Boléro or a story about bridge trolls with civic agendas, the humor is crafted with purpose. It’s satire with a steel spine.
Educational Outreach
The Starry Messenger
STEM Education Meets Circus.
The Starry MessengerⓇ is the educational wing of Cirque Jag Productions. Launched in 2019, this circus-powered outreach program uses juggling, acrobatics, and spectacle to teach astronomy and science concepts to kids.

Over the years, The Starry Messenger has appeared in classrooms, museums, libraries, and community centers, turning science lessons into interactive, unforgettable shows and activities. And now, The Starry Messenger lives here, as part of Cirque Jag Productions.

To keep things clear, adult-centered productions are separated from this youth programming by visual design, content tone, and content tagging. Parents, educators, and community organizers can trust what they’re clicking on.
